Here's a brief resume of how Scottish hill runners fared at the inaugural Commonwealth Championships, which were held in Keswick from 17 to 20 September:
Uphill-only Races
The women's team won the silver medal, behind England and just ahead of New Zealand. Angela Mudge was seventh, Clare Whitehead eighth and Sula Young eleventh.
The men's event was won by K Wilson Chemweno (Kenya), with Jonathan Wyatt (New Zealand) in second. Bobby Quinn was tenth, Scott McDonald 17th and Andrew Liston 18th, giving Scotland fourth place in the team event.
Up-and-down Races
Another team medal for Scotland's women - this time a bronze, just behind New Zealand (and with England well out in front). Angela Mudge was fifth, Nicola Meekin 14th and Sue Ridley 15th.
The Scottish men's team finished fifth, with Joe Symonds eighth, Robbie Simpson 16th and Alasdair Anthony 21st.
There was success for people seen in the hills in the Ultra Races too. The men (Steve Mason, William Sichel and Ritchie Cunningham) took team bronze in the 24-hourer. Lucy Colquhoun did even better, winning an individual bronze and (with Gail Murdoch and Isobel Knox) a team silver in the 100km event.
Congratulations to all concerned!
