There was a turnout of 500 (give or take) for the Carnethy 5, thanks perhaps to the residual snow on the Pentlands or the presence of the film crew for BBC-TV’s The Adventure Show. The descent off West Kip was certainly an adventure for the tail-enders, judging from the shrieks (of delight?) as they bum-slid their ways down.
Rob Jebb (Bingley Harriers) won for a record-equalling fourth time, chased all the way by Prasad Prasad (Clydesdale Harriers) – who was rewarded with the prize for the first Scot. Andrew Symonds (Carnegie Harriers) was third and Brian Marshall (HELP) fourth. Fiona Maxwell (Mourne Runners) came away with a bumper bundle: first woman, first Scot and first F40. Claire Gordon (HBT) and Iona Robertson (Bellahouston Road Runners) were several minutes behind her in second and third.
