As a bonus, all athletes and teams who complete all four league races will be awarded an additional two league points. In the event of a tie, performance at the JHI trial (Menstrie), then head to heads, then number of races, then performance at the scottishathletics Junior Championships (Ben Lomond) will be used. The Hill Running Commission (with support from SHR) has drawn up a set of guidelines for junior hill races, which can be read and downloaded here.
It is particularly important to note that there are rules which govern the maximum distances that juniors can race. If you are under 18 on January 1st in the year of competition you cant race more than 10k on the hills - and the guidelines detail the limits for younger age groups.
A training weekend will be held on January 7th and 8th at the Wanlockhead Outdoor Centre near Abington. The weekend is designed to cater for all endurance athletes wishing to develop their hill running abilities. Junior athletes (over 12) are especially welcome and all sessions are designed to be suitable for their capabilities. Download a flyer and booking form here .
You can see a news item and some photos from a previous weekend here .
Details of the International Programme are on the next page>>
