SHR will shortly be producing a Calendar of ALL races suitable for Juniors ( ie Under 18s). Each race entry includes details of minimum age limits. This will be similar to the 2009 version, an extract of which is still available, for information only, here
The 2010 scottishathletics Junior Championship will take place at Ben Lomond on Saturday 8 May. The Championship is open to members of scottishathletics.
The categories are U19 (defined as born 1991–1993), U16 (born 1994 or 1995), U14 (born 1996 or 1997).
The scottishathletics Junior Hill Running League was introduced several years ago to encourage competitive

The League is open to members of scottishathletics. The categories for 2010 are U19 (born 1991-1993), U16 (born 1994 or 1995), U14 (born 1996 or 1997). There are also male and female team competitions. Scoring teams are made up of the top three scoring athletes in each
Club, from any age group.
Points are awarded to the first 18 individuals in each category, with points for the team competition
following the same scoring format: 1st place 25 points, 2nd 20 points, 3rd 17 points, 4th 15 points,
5th 14 points, reducing at one point intervals down to 18th 1 point. As a bonus, all athletes and
teams who complete all three league races will be awarded an additional two league points.
***2009 Final Standings ***
The Hill Running Commission (with support from SHR) has drawn up a set of guidelines for junior hill races, which can be read and downloaded here.
It is particularly important to note that there are rules which govern the maximum distances that juniors can race. If you are under 18 on January 1st in the year of competition you cant race more than 10k on the hills - and the guidelines detail the limits for younger age groups.
A training weekend will be held on 8-9 January 2011, at the Wanlockhead Outdoor Centre near Abington. The weekend is designed to cater for all endurance athletes wishing to develop their hill running abilities. Junior athletes (over 12) are especially welcome and all sessions are designed to be suitable for their capabilities. There's a news item and photos from the 2009 weekend here .
Details of the International Programme are on the next page>>
