It was a mainly sunny, but cold windy day with occasional showers for the latest edition of the Devil's Burdens Relay. The massive field of 123 teams was led home once again by Shettleston. After taking the lead on the 3rd leg, they finished over four and a half minutes clear of a youthful Carnethy team....

Robbie Simpson breaks the record in a time of 19:30. Robbie takes the record from Dan Whitehead which stood since 2000 in a time of 19:46.
With thanks to the Forest Enterprise, Aberdeen City Council and the Agricultural College for access and to Colin & Pauline Larmour, Colin Reid, Ewen Rennie, Anne Stone , Keith Varney, Anita Hamilton, Gillian Clunas and Carolyn Hare for their help on the day.
Perfect running conditions, nice sunny day…just had to take a slight detour for a rather large fallen tree.

Due to bad weather conditions the Aonach Mor Gondola and the top and bottom restaurants were all hit by a power cut and so the race was changed to a 5 mile trail run - mainly in the forest, which helped give some protection to the runners from the heavy freezing rain. A large field of around 130 took part and the race was dominated from the start by Dave Rodgers (Lochaber) who led all the way. In second place and closing in on Dave towards teh end was Andy Fallas (Carnethy). Colin Donnelly (Lochaber) had another age defying run to finish 4th and first Over 50.

105 runners finished the 2012 Greenmantle Dash at Broughon, with Murray Strain finishing well clear of Brian Marshall while Charlotte Morgan won the ladies with a convincing victory over Kirstin Maxwell

The annual hill running weekend in Scotland's highest village, Wanlockhead, takes place shortly...
The weekend is designed to help any endurance runner who wishes to develop their hill running and navigational abilities. Juniors who are at least 12 years old are especially welcome and all sessions are designed to be suitable for their capabilities and guidance from experienced adults is offered throughout the weekend's activities.
Wanlockhead is an ideal and accessible venue for this midwinter get-together, being surrounded by grassy hills which you can run over in all weathers. After the outdoor sessions you can return to warm accommodation with good facilities, and the runs are complemented by indoor discussions and other informal group activities.

Prasad Prasad (Squadra Porcini) crossed the line first with a very fast 30:51, almost two minutes clear ahead of Al Anthony with Carnethy's James Waldie a close 3rd. First woman was Charlotte Morgan from Edinburgh, over half a minute ahead of Shona Robertson (Shettleston).

In difficult blustery conditions running on a new route Graeme Bartlett shook off the cobwebs to win in 1.09.14 followed seconds later by local lad Manny Gorman, Julian Warman was third. First female was Megan Mowbray in 1.20.05.
